Quality camping in New York?

A bunch of my college buddies and I are planning a camping trip for this upcoming summer. Since none of us have ever gone camping before we could really use some advice. Most importantly, where is the best place to go? I have owned an 8 man raft for about 8 years now and would like to finally get some use out of it. So a place where we can do some great fishing and rafting is a must. Also we plan on drinking and I heard that drinking is prohibited on state parks. Could some one please verify those rules and restrictions for me. And thats pretty much it. Any information on where to stay or camping tips woud be great appreciated. Thanks for your help!!!

anywhere in the adirondacks of new york state, alcohol is definitely not prohibited in any park in the dacks–every camper would be kicked out, just dont act like a fool … iwant go into detail as far as campsites but if you’ld like i could hook you up with some kick ass campsites
